Professional Services Offered by LTWI

LTWI provides communications consulting services using the Enneagram personality system as the developmental framework.  The Enneagram Levels of Development, discovered by Don Richard Riso, provide a map for observing not only one’s level of psychological health (healthy, average, unhealthy), but also one’s level of effectiveness, which in turn allows for learning, growth and change.  These levels of health are in constant flux and depend upon the amount of stress or anxiety one is experiencing in a given situation.  Each personality type has distinct characteristics depending upon the level of health that is currently driving the personality.  There are also nuances in how the personality appears to others based upon the levels of health of the personality.

Using the Enneagram as a leadership template is about drawing upon Values-based leadership characteristics, or the highest leadership potential of each personality type.  So how is leadership based on the Enneagram different from using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator?  Although the MBTI provides helpful information as to specific personality traits and how a person relates to people and the environment, it does not go into motivations underlying the personality types, nor does it provide a map for transforming personality traits that are not in line with such higher values as honesty, compassion, and courage.  The Enneagram system, however, outlines the core motivation driving each personality type, and the Levels of Development provide a map for transforming personality.  Thus, the Enneagram offers the direction and opportunity for functioning from the highest potential of the personality.

The crux of the Enneagram is about changing from the inside out.  Personality is viewed as the automatic way we interact with others and our environment.  It is a kind of psychological defense mechanism or coping strategy that requires no conscious awareness.  We generally do not think about using our personality, we just “do” it.  It’s like being on autopilot.  The Enneagram distinguishes from personality by using the term “Essence” to describe our Higher Self, our innermost being, that purest part of us that is free from the mandates of the personality.  This Higher Self or “Essence” is our reservoir of higher values, and contains the highest potential of each personality type.  Although “Essence” in the Enneagram correlates to Stephen Covey’s “Character Ethic”, the Enneagram takes Covey’s leadership model a step further by outlining how each personality type can access “Character Ethic”.  Drawing upon our “Essence” rather than just identifying with our personality characteristics, is the goal of working with the Enneagram.  The Levels of Development provide the tool for accessing “Essence”, and thereby, the highest potential of each personality type.  This is what Integrated Living and Values-based Leadership are about.

Both LTWI providers are licensed professionals and have 44 years combined experience in facilitating effective interpersonal communication and problem solving.  They are also certified trainers of the Enneagram personality system.  With their educational training in psychology, professional expertise in interpersonal communication, and certification in the Enneagram personality system, LTWI providers offer quality and multi-layered communications consulting services.
