The curriculum is designed for mental health
practitioners to learn new clinical applications in their approaches to
clientele. However, any person who is psychologically-minded and/or
has participated in therapy themselves can benefit from learning the
course content.
CT101:
Clinical Assessment of the Enneagram
Personality Formation:
Students are introduced to the Enneagram in the context of personality
formation. Consistent with
Object Relations Theory, it is postulated that personality is formed due to
the nature of the relationship between the child and the parental figures.
The Enneagram identifies 9 distinct (and overlapping) personality
formations. Enneagram personality
formations are compared to Axis II diagnostic personality categories.
CT102:
Clinical
Assessment Using the Enneagram as a Diagnostic Tool Students are oriented to the process of assessing personality in the context
of clinical assessment and diagnosis. In
this context personality (Latin: persona = “mask”) is defined as a
psychological defense to ward off experiencing childhood pain.
Enneagram identifies 9
such personality formations. Students
are also oriented to DSM-IV diagnostic procedures, especially in the diagnosing
of personality disorders. Comparisons
and contrasts are made between Enneagram and DSM-IV personality typologies.
CT103:
Clinical Applications of
the Enneagram Used
in treatment This training is a continuation of the Introduction to Clinical Applications
course. This course will identify key issues that are germane to each
of the 9 personality formations. This
course also trains the clinician on how to assist the client to free oneself
from his or her personality fixation.
This course also teaches clinicians how to guide clients to their Point
of Integration by successfully "holding the container" of feeling
sentiments produced by the Shadow side of the personality.
It will be explained how lasting personal transformation occurs only when
one’s Shadow side is accepted and integrated into the personality.
